StrongHold Petroleum, headquartered in Ras Al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, was established to invest in infrastructure assets connected to the oil and specialties supply chain.
The company is a subsidiary of StrongHold Infra, a Brazilian corporation that was born big. Since its foundation in 2023, it has directly or indirectly participated in three major bids focused on the concession of liquid port terminals in Brazil.
In its inaugural year, StrongHold acquired Liquipar, which secured the concession bidding for the PAR50 terminal in 2023. This terminal, situated at Paranaguá Port in Paraná state, Southern Brazil, boasts one of the premier tankage complexes in the country.. The concession contract spans 25-years, extended up to 70 years, with an estimated total value of R$ 1.73 billion (US$ 300 million).
Currently, the terminal has a tankage capacity of 71 million liters and is linked to one of the nation’s most efficient piers. Plans are underway to increase its capacity to 200 million liters by the close of 2025, with investments totaling approximately R$ 572 million (US$ 114 million).
StrongHold Petroleum is also committed to diversifying its operations, incorporating more sustainable solutions and aligning with goals aimed at reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change.
Mr. Langner is a storied Chief Financial Officer and finance executive with a wealth of experience in the energy sector, as well as in restructuring and capital markets in Latin America, Asia, Middle East and Africa. Aside from his achievements as a finance professional, Mr. Langner is working on a doctoral thesis focused on green bonds.
In a career that spans 25 years, four countries and two continents, first as a financial journalist then as a finance professional, Mr. Langner has worked closely with senior executives and politicians in almost all emerging markets and has a deep knowledge of the business drivers in these countries.
Mr. Langner’s expertise ranges from technical financial analyses of funding conditions to near-forensic accounting, as well as a thorough understanding of restructuring laws and procedures in many emerging markets, from China and Indonesia to South Africa and Brazil.
Before taking the position of Chief Financial Officer of EM Ventures Coal Trading in Dubai, Mr. Langner was the Head of Investment Strategy for the Personal Banking unit of First Abu Dhabi Bank, the largest financial institution in the UAE. He took that position after a stellar 20-year career as a financial journalist, during which he worked as a columnist for Bloomberg, and a reporter or editor for major international news outfits such as Thomson Reuters, The Wall Street Journal and Forbes.
